Ms. Karen is the Toddler room directress.

The Toddler Room is comprised of children ages 18 months to approximately 3 years of age. Children usually complete transition to the next room, the Junior Room, around the age of 3.

The focus in the toddler room is upon concentration skills, sense of order, independence and coordination. These are developed through the use of Montessori methods and tools. The children also begin to develop a knowledge of phonetics which serves as a strong framework for the reading skills developed in the junior and elementary rooms. As is consistent with Montessori philosophy, each child is able to work at his or her own pace.

The average student-to-teacher ratio is 6 to 1. The room is designed to be comforting and calming, and all materials are accessible to the little ones. The focus of the toddler room is to provide a positive and loving environment which enables the children to develop life-long skills and self-esteem. The children enjoy special activities such as field trips, the 4H egg hatching program, and visits from the older children at the school to their room.
